Civil Engineering

The Department of Civil Engineering offers undergraduate and post graduate programs in Civil Engineering. The curriculum is designed to prepare students with firm technical bases. The department through its planned training sessions and workshops on the thrust areas and advancements of civil engineering helps nurturing the potentials of students.

We introduce our students to the opportunities the course encompasses and help them develop their vision to achieve the targets by organizing professional interaction programs through seminars/symposia with participation from academic and serving senior level officers in Central and State Government and Public Sector (PSUs).

The Department contributes to the interdisciplinary academic and research activity of the Institute.

Our team is committed to impart quality skills and knowledge to prepare students for the corporate as well as the construction world. Along with achieving excellence in academics, we focus on preparing them for the challenges of the professional world through Group discussions on socio-economic, cultural and technical scenarios, personality development and IQ-enhancement sessions.

The vision of the Department of Civil Engineering is to achieve excellence by development of knowledge resources and producing highly competent Civil graduates in various fields of Civil Engineering to meet local, industrial and national economic and social needs.

  • To inspire youths to become responsible citizens and competent professionals with high ethical values in tackling diverse problems in the field of Civil Engineering.
  • To meet the expectations of technical human resource at national and international level.

Programme Educational Objectives

PEO-01 To develop the acumen of students in the domain of Civil Engineering and enabling them to become a successful professional and learned graduateTo develop the acumen of students in the domain of Civil Engineering and enabling them to become a successful professional and learned graduate.
PEO-02 To transform students into morally and ethically upright practitioners having entrepreneurial skills with the ability to provide innovative engineering solutions to societal problems.
PEO-03 To inculcate learning attitude through efficient training in state-of-the-art engineering practices along with providing adequate exposure facilitating an all-round development of the students.

Programme Specific Outcomes

PSO-01 Improving the employability skills by making the students capable of qualifying competitive examinations.
PSO-02 Inculcating technical competencies in students to deal with practical aspects of civil engineering.
PSO-03 Cognizance of social awareness and environmental necessity along with ethical responsibility to have a successful career and to become an entrepreneur.

Programme Outcomes

PO-01 Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
PO-02 Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, reviewer search literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
PO-03 Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
PO-04 Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
PO-05 Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex Engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
PO-06 The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
PO-07 Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
PO-08 Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practices.
PO-09 Individual and teamwork: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.
PO-10 Communication: Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.
PO-11 Project management and finance: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineering and management principles and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.
PO-12 Life-long learning: Recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long learning in the broadest context of technological change.

B.Tech. in Civil Engineering (CE)

B.Tech. in Civil Engineering is a four-year professional undergraduate program which is focused on producing quality engineers capable of applying knowledge in engineering to betterment of society and nation. Civil Engineering involves planning, designing, constructing, maintaining and supervising infrastructures which include facilities essential to modern life like highways, bridges and tunnels, schools, hospitals, airports and other buildings, sewage systems and water treatment facilities. Subsequently, the course also involves protecting the public and environmental health as well as improving existing infrastructure.

M.Tech. in Construciton Technology and Management (CTM)

Construction Technology and Management (CTM) refers to the discipline of overall planning, coordination, and control of projects. It is a part of the Civil Engineering domain. This course is a combination of Civil Engineering and Construction Management. Construction Technology Management (CTM) is the overall planning, coordination, and control of a project from beginning to completion. This course gives the students scientific principles involved in construction, an understanding of the behavior of construction materials, and the fundamentals of structural mechanics. The course helps students achieve knowledge in decision-making, strategizing, business management, innovation, and technological demands. Advanced lessons in management science, project management, and risk analysis help students get the requisite expertise in the field.

Dr. Swajit Singh Goud has been working at Sagar Institute of Science Technology and Research since January 2017, in the Department of Civil Engineering, currently working as Head of the Civil Engineering Department. He completed his Ph.D. in the field of Earthquake Resistant Design from IIIT-Hyderabad. He completed his Bachelor's Degree in the Year 2009 from Samrat Ashok Technological Institute, Vidisha.

Dr. Manish Dubey has been associated with Sagar Institute of Science and Technology & Research (SISTec-R), Bhopal, since July 2022. He completed his Master’s Degree in Construction Technology & Management from SATI Vidisha as a RGPV Silver Medallist. He has a vast experience of 33 years of performing construction, planning and management activities as an Engineer, Contractor and Approved Valuer since 1990. He also has 10 years of teaching experience. He has also written a research-based book “Ramayan me Civil Engineering” which is being widely appreciated in India and abroad also on various physical and virtual platforms. He has been awarded the prestigious "Srijan Award" for notable success in the field of engineering education. A realistic data-based research work done by Manish Dubey on “Quality Control in Civil Engineering Construction works” is very noteworthy which he has been presenting in various government and private engineering institutes.
